I’ve been asked to say more about Medicine Singing so there are 2 aspects to focus on first.
Being the Medicine and
The healing benefits of sound and singing.
In some tribal traditions your unique medicine expresses who you are as a human being. It is what you emanate and offer in the world. In medicine singing workshops we create and explore medicine songs to support your true expression. This is with the intention of helping you access what it is to ‘be the medicine’ here on Earth, in your life and in your work. It is very personal. It helps you focus on what you want and it is about you as a giver.
Another aspect of Medicine Singing is the healing benefits of sound and energy; that is conscious work with vibration as everything is vibration. In a workshop we include group chanting, Tibetan and Hawaiin healing chants and my own vibrational sound healing approaches which with much help and joy I have created as part of Medicine Singing.
So when I created the Medicine Singing workshops I was aware that these two aspects, being the medicine and healing sound would make a lovely, effective combination. And I wanted to make sure the work would be suitable for anyone who wants to include these practices in their own daily living and those who work as practitioners with others.
I’ve sung this way for years myself and as a person I am transformed. I have a clearer sense of my own essence and a greater confidence to share with other like minded souls. I love to hear medicine songs from others and to bask in a group creating them together. We can all be Medicine Singers if we choose to be.
Essentially Medicine Singing is about singing with life itself. More on that next time…
Two introductory Medicine Singing Weekends coming up: 23/24 May in Jersey and 17/18 October in Cambridge.
